Workshop Engineering Assistant

JOB overview.

This role is a key aspect of our production team and will involve hands-on work with our Electron Beam Melting (EBM) metal 3D printing machines (training provided) and post-processing of critical components.

 

With most of your time spent in the workshop, your time will be spent finishing components, as well as maintaining machines, 3D Scanning & inspection and handling goods outwards.

 

 

Metal 3D printing is a new field, and we don’t expect candidates to have prior specialised knowledge. We have an extensive training program to bring you up to speed and to become an Additive Manufacturing Technician in Electron Beam Melting. 

about you:

Key Requirements 

  • Preferably experience in a production environment, ideally in metal fabrication, surface finishing or machine shop roles. 
  • Happy to tackle repetitive tasks, while at the same time having a high level of attention to detail to deliver consistent, high-quality results. 
  • Hands-on person with proficient use of hand tools and power tools – and a good mechanical aptitude. 
  • Physically fit and energetic, with the ability to keep up a high work rate in our busy production environment. 
  • Conscious about Health and Safety for yourself and your colleagues. 
  • Dedicated to continuous improvement, willing to listen and learn to improve yourself as well as contributing new ideas to process improvements. 
  • You will have a clean valid NZ Drivers Licence. 
  • You must meet the requirements for working on specific projects for USA Government departments and passport verification will be required in line with US Export Control requirements. 
  • You must be currently based in Auckland, New Zealand, as this is an onsite role. 

It will be beneficial if you have experience in the following: 

  • Preventative and corrective maintenance of equipment and machines, including scheduling and management of spare parts inventory.
  • Compliance with Quality Standards and certifications.
  • Industrial 3D printing.
  • Blasting, grinding, fettling, or other metal finishing work. 
  • 3D Scanning and inspecting.
  • Production process troubleshooting.
  • Accurate documentation and reporting.
